Drs. James and Susan Wood
Dr. Susan is a 1987 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. As part of her training, she completed internships at the Feinbloom Center in Philadelphia, PA and OMNI Eye Services in Fairfax, VA with emphasis on low vision and ocular disease, respectfully. A member of the Georgia Optometric Association and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons,
Dr. Susan is an affiliate member of the Emory Vision Correction Center and TLC (The Laser Center). With her warm and caring chairside manner, Dr. Susan has established a large and loyal following, particularly with the "difficult to fit" contact lens patients. Dr. Jim graduated in 1985 from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, where he also earned a M.S. in Physiological Optics. |
Dr. Jim completed an internship in vision training from SUNY, State College of Optometry in New York and a residency in Primary Care Optometry at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia. He is a past president of the Atlanta district of the Georgia Optometric Association and was named "Georgia's Young Optometrist of the Year" in 1991-92. An enthusiastic proponent of LASIK eye surgery, Dr. Jim has had the procedure himself.
To keep up with the latest developments in eyecare, Dr Jim attends numerous lectures and webinars and is a member of: The American Optometric Society, The Georgia Optometric Association, The Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, The College of Optometrists in Vision Development, The Ocular Nutrition Society, and the Ocular Surface Society.

Dr. Duy Nguyen
Dr. Nguyen is the first-generation doctor in his family. He moved to America from Vietnam at the age of 17 to learn English in order to chase after his dream to become an eye doctor. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. He then studied optometry and earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry. After he graduated in 2020, he partnered with an international organization called Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to teach optometry at Hanoi Medical University in Vietnam through zoom due to COVID travel restriction. Dr. Nguyen completed an externship here in Atlanta where he focused his training on keratoconus screenings, assisted in the LASIK clinics, including providing evaluation and pre-/post-operative services. |
Dr. Nguyen enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, rock climbing, and traveling. When he is not spending time outside, Dr. Nguyen likes to build custom desktops from individual computer parts and mechanical keyboards. His favorite martial arts are Kendo (Japanese swordsmanship) and kickboxing.
Dr. Lay Nim
Born in Vietnam, Dr. Lay Nim grew up in Gwinnett County. After attending Collins Hill High School, she graduated from Georgia State University with honors. She then obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Dr. Nim's passion is fitting patients with challenging contact lens situations, especially scleral lenses. Patients love her for her warm and friendly chairside manner. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and sampling new restaurants. |
Dr. Tania Mathai
Dr. Mathai is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from the University of Oklahoma and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Oklahoma with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. She went on to achieve a Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2012.
Dr. Mathai is a member of the American Optometric Association and Georgia Optometric Association. She currently resides in Snellville with her husband and two children. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and volunteering at her church.

Dr. Ingrid Whitbourne-Cooke
Dr. Whitbourne was born and raised on the island of Jamaica. After completing her Bachelor's degree there, she came to the US and obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University. She has worked in many different practice settings and in the field of clinical studies and medical devices and is a member of the American Optometric Association and Georgia Optometric Association. Dr. Whitbourne practices primary care optometry with special areas of interest in dry eye, ocular surface disease, contact lens fitting and orthokeratology. She sees patients from ages 4 and up. Additionally, she has donated her services by providing free eye exams to school children. When not seeing patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, going for walks, and trying new restaurants. |

Dr. Sejal Patel grew up in Illinois and went to school in the Midwest. She earned her Bachelor's in Biology from Purdue University in Indiana and graduated in 2014 from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Patel specializes in ocular disease management and likes keeping up with the latest technology in eye care for all ages. Her experiences include LASIK, PRK and cataract surgery pre/post-op care, diabetic retinal evaluation, and IPL for dry eye. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.
Dr. Patel moved from Chicagoland to Georgia in 2020 with her husband and daughter, and they grew their family with another daughter in 2024. They like going on family hikes and vacations. In her spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys painting and taking on crafty activities, and making new recipes.
Her philosophy is to treat each patient as she would her family. She enjoys getting to know her patients and addressing their individual needs. She is excited to be a part of an amazing clinical family that has kept up with state-of-the-art equipment and stayed at the forefront of all that optometry has to offer.

Dr. Leo Zlotcavitch (Monroe location)
Dr. Leo Zlotcavitch is an ophthalmologist who specializes in Cornea, Refractive and Cataract surgery. He is with us on certain days by special appointment for consultation for surgery and advanced ocular disease. He recently served as a fellow and clinical instructor at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida. Dr. Zlotcavitch received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami. He completed his internship training at Northwell Hospital in Long Island, New York and his ophthalmology training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh. He then went to complete his cornea fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, ranked #1 in the country. |
During his spare time, Dr. Zlotcavitch enjoys spending his time with his family, playing soccer and chess. He recently moved from Florida with his wife and son to join Woolfson Eye Institute in 2020. He speaks fluent English, Russian and Hebrew.
